Dr. Kinney will also be speaking about Data, Technology, and Change on Thursday at 10:15. Dr. Kinney was honored to present at the 2023 Midwest Fire Rescue Expo annual conference on the topic of technology, change, and data. Dr. Kinney described the rapid change our society has undergone over the past 15-20 years as a result of exponentially faster growth in computing technology, sensor proliferation, and wireless communications. Within the fire industry, this leads to exciting new technologies for training firefighters using virtual reality, detecting fires earlier using artificial intelligence and satellite imagery, and utilizing smart equipment that leads to faster response times and more efficient organizational processes.
